Maria Grazia Sartirana. In Moldova, I didn’t feel like I was abroad

Interview with Maria Grazia Sartirana — founder of the Italian platform Goditi la Vita, journalist and radio host, who visited Moldova for the first time at the invitation of Heal in Moldova.

#INTRO

Heal in Moldova is a medical facilitator that connects international patients with the best clinics in the Republic of Moldova, offering a unique combination of high-quality medical tourism and authentic cultural discoveries.

Maria Grazia’s visit combined meetings in partner clinics with the discovery of Chișinău and some of the country’s most picturesque locations, such as Castel Mimi, Asconi, Cricova, Epoca de Piatră, Orheiul Vechi, Valea Morilor Park, and many other beautiful places. For the Italian audience she represents, this was the opportunity to see firsthand the quality of Moldova’s medical services, as well as to discover a modern, safe, and surprising country, as Maria herself described it.

#Interview

What was your first impression after landing in Chișinău?

Order.

During your stay here, what surprised you the most?

A word that may sound unusual, but I’ll say it: modernity. In my mind, Moldova was something completely different. Instead, I discovered a city very similar to Milan.

How would you describe the partner clinics of Heal in Moldova?

A very positive experience. Extremely clean clinics, accessible, with warm people. Just like the ones you can find in Italy.

From the perspective of professionalism and technology, did you notice any differences compared to Milan?

No. The only difference, unfortunately, is the price. In Milan, the same technologies cost at least 60% more. In Italy, many postpone or even give up on treatments precisely because of the costs.

Do you think Moldova can become a real alternative for Italians?

Yes, and a very good one. Only two hours by plane, accessible from almost any Italian city. A beautiful country, quality services, and the first thing I felt here was safety.

You combined medical tourism with leisure travel. How did the two complement each other?

At first, you come for treatment and savings, but then you discover a country that is comfortable, safe, peaceful, with exceptional wines and a cuisine capable of satisfying every palate.

Was there a moment that particularly moved you?

Not just one, but many details. Above all, I was struck by the sense of familiarity. I didn’t feel like I was abroad.

If you had to describe Moldova in three words?

Cleanliness, order, familiarity.

What did you expect to find and what did you actually find?

I expected a country lagging a few decades behind. Instead, I found a modern, dynamic country, forward-looking, clean, well-kept, and full of life.

What message would you like to share with Italians who are looking for high-quality medical treatments and, at the same time, an authentic experience?

Open your mind. Moldova is not a cold country, it’s not hostile, and it’s certainly not “somewhere near Russia.” It’s a surprising, warm, flavorful place where you can restore your smile and once again enjoy life. And I can assure you that the food here is excellent!
